Cromer’s New Year’s Day Firework display postponed due to adverse weather conditions

The New Year’s Day firework display in Cromer – annually attended by more than 10,000 people - has been postponed.

Organisers of the popular event said the forecast of adverse weather conditions for Sunday, January 1 have led to the postponement.

The display will now take place on Sunday, January 8 at 5pm off Cromer Pier. Titanium Fireworks, who will fire the show off Cromer Pier next weekend said it was only the third display in 18 years they had had to change.

Organisers said the health and safety of its visitors was too important to run the display tomorrow and apologised for the postponement.

Winds are forecast from the North tomorrow which could blow debris into the crowds who annually line the promenade, cliff top and beach to watch the fireworks.

The free event is the biggest New Year’s Day display in the country and has taken place every year since 2000.

On Sunday, January 8, the fireworks will be fired at 5pm from Cromer Pier, there will also be mulled wine available outside Cromer Museum as well as refreshments in the church.
